April’s Colour of the Month – 7G Golden Blonde

April 11 2023 by: Jo M

At last, the sun has finally made an appearance – hurrah! It may just be us but now we’ve had our first taste of a sunny long weekend, we’re dreaming of balmy summer evenings squeezing every last drop out of the day. And some of you may also be starting to think about going a little lighter with your hair, ready for the summer months.

Our ‘Golden’ family of tones offer a great selection of warmer colours for the warmer months and the 7G Golden Blonde is one of our favourites for a sunkissed, natural-looking mid-blonde.

What kind of colour is it?

As a ‘7’ the Golden Blonde is one of our lighter shades and although it’s classed as a blonde, it’s definitely more of a mid-blonde than a light blonde. The ‘G’ in the code 7G of course stands for Golden so if you are familiar with our 7N Hazelnut Blonde, expect a warmer, more golden version of that shade. Lots of Naturtinters favour the 7G because the added golden tones can catch the light, giving the effect of natural highlights.

Can anybody wear this colour?

Within reason, yes! Warmer colours like the 7G Golden Blonde can be more flattering for lots of skin tones as we age – warm complexions naturally cool over time as less and less melanin is produced, so adding some golden tones to your hair can soften the contrast between your skin and hair.

Of course, you do need to bear in mind your base shade – if you are naturally any darker than a mid-brown shade like our 5N Light Chestnut Brown, you won’t be able to use the 7G Golden Blonde, but you could consider the 6G Dark Golden Blonde or 5G Light Golden Chestnut. For more advice on choosing the right colour for your hair, take a look at our ‘Find Your Shade’ page.

Anybody I might know that’s a fan of this kind of colour?

You’ll often see Jennifer Lopez with a golden blonde colour and she regularly styles it with big, bouncy curls that show off those lovely golden highlights. It also complements her warm skin tone beautifully.

Closer to home, supermodel Rosie Huntington-Whiteley can sometimes be seen sporting a warmer version of her blonde hair, something we think really accentuates her stunning features.

How do I care for it?

When using any hair colour, you’re best to invest in cleansing products that are designed for coloured hair – thankfully all aftercare in the Naturtint range has been formulated to help maintain colour but for the best care, take a look at the Colour Fixing Shampoo and Colour Fixing Protective Conditioner.

As with all the Naturtint Permanent Hair Colour Gels, you’ll find a 50ml Quinoa Mask in every box of 7G Golden Blonde, which is intended to lock that colour in for a long-lasting result and to enhance shine. There’s usually enough for several applications, but you can also buy 150ml bottles so you can give your hair a weekly treatment, keeping the colour looking fresh and vibrant.

If you want to just touch up your roots in between 7G applications, the Root Retouch Dark Blonde shades is suitable for a quick fix, or if you’re after a more temporary version of the colour, look no further than the Reflex Henna Cream in shade 7.3 Golden Blonde! Just bear in mind that a temporary colour cannot lighten hair, so whilst darker colours may be able to add some warmth with this shade, they won’t get the exact Golden Blonde shade.
